One of Lynn's illustrations from her book, "I Go to the Ocean and Talk to Myself", this cover art from the gently rhyming story in verse is a colorful portrayal of the powerful messages heard while spending time in nature.
We talk to ourselves all of the time, usually without realizing it, and much of what we tell ourselves is negative and limiting. We can learn new ways to talk to our self. Nature provides my favorite subjects to paint with watercolor, monotype, oil, and acrylics. I often work in a technique called alla prima, a direct painting approach where I apply the paint “wet on wet” without letting earlier layers dry. In Italian, the term alla prima means "at first attempt". Paintings I create in this manner are usually completed within a single session which I feel adds to the emotional spontaneity of each piece. Recently, landscapes in oil have become my focus after surviving several significant losses of loved ones over the past few years.
