Hook Pier on the North Avenue Beach in Chicago is the perfect place to watch the sun come up - especially when the weather is lovely as it was on this morning. Bikers and joggers go as far as this little lighthouse before turning around; walkers go around and on out to the point - or just sit on the edge of the pier and enjoy the sunrise.
