Description
Homo heidelbergensis hunting. Artwork of two Homo heidelbergensis early humans hunting bison by a river in what is now the Atapuerca Mountains, Spain. H. heidelbergensis used stone weapons and hunted in groups allowing it to kill large prey. It is an extinct species that forms a relatively recent part of the human evolutionary tree and may have been an ancestor of both Neanderthals and modern humans.
