Trained as a scientific illustrator, Lynette Cook worked with researchers and science educators at the forefront of scientific discoveries. This resulted in worldwide publication of her astronomical images in books, periodicals, documentaries, press releases, and web sites by Astronomy, BBC Television, CNN, The Discovery Channel, Japan Public Television, NASA, Newsweek, the San Francisco Chronicle, Scientific American, Time, UCLA, and US News & World Report (a partial list). She also has been featured on ABC7 News (KGO) and in USA Today. In 2010 Cook shifted direction toward realist painting, her first love. She now focuses on the urban environment of the San Francisco Bay Area, from historical landmarks to more common "everyday"...

Absolutely wonderful painting, in the romantic tradition of window over a panorama, as Friedrich and other old masters. Fabulous.
Leonard Lukomski
Lynette, I love this and the other brick archways in your paintings. The brick reminds me of my photographs of old structures... http://fineartamerica.com/featured/amunition-cache-leonard-lukomski.html ... I admire your style with both foreground and background details that give the veiwer the feeling of being there in the image and looking though to something in the distance. Your "space" paintings have an abstarct impression that even NASA would admire. I see by your description of this and other paintings that you are a poet as well as a painter.
Lynette Cook replied:
Leonard, what wonderful comments! I looked at your Fort Wayne image and see why you like my work too. Your photo is marvelous. . . right up my alley, with the brick corridor and arches! I'll be posting more work in this vein as time goes on and hope you do too.
Lynette Cook
Thank you both so much! I really wanted to focus on the light and color while showing detail in the shadow areas too.
Warren Thompson
Great light,color and perspective!
