Henry M. Howe, American metallurgist. Having completed his education in 1871, Howe worked in numerous iron and steel works. He argued for the classification of steel based on its carbon content, but was unsuccessful. After this debate, he designed and built metallurgical works. He was the son of the noted feminist writer Julia Ward Howe. He was awarded the John Fritz medal.
