Hannibal's attack on Italy...
during the Second Punic War was a significant turning point in ancient history. Hannibal, the Carthaginian general, led his troops across the Alps in 218 BC to launch a surprise attack on Rome's allies in Italy. This strategic move was a bold and risky one, as it involved crossing treacherous mountains with a large army and elephants.

Hannibal's military genius and his ability to outmaneuver the Roman army made him a formidable opponent. He won several battles against the Romans, including the famous Battle of Cannae in 216 BC, where he defeated a much larger Roman army.
