Description
The 10,000 foot Haleakala mountain is one of two on Maui, Hawaii, joined by an isthmus. This landscape covers a wide section of the crater, which is large enought to hold the whole island of Manhattan, The blues, purples, greens and the ever-present lava brown covers the color range.
It is a two-hour drive to the top of the mountain, but what a spectacular sight greets visitors to Haleakala National Park. It is possible to hike within the park, which has small huts for sleeping. The clouds come in early and cover the top, so arrive early in the morning for the best view. Even better, arrive before the sun comes up so you can see it rise!

Beautiful capture with those low clouds!
Kirsten Giving replied:
Hello Sarah, thank you so much! This was taken at 10k' elevation, so the clouds really were below! We lucked out that we made it to the summit before more clouds moved in. Best regards, Kirsten
