This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

Artist's Description

Hada de Pero Nuga

Nuga was a queen from the court of ancient Mesopotamia, also known as Naqi'a. She had complete mastery of the healing arts. Here she is teaching shamans to use colours, shapes and sounds - all of which are symmetrical patterns of energy for healing. She is cloaked in chacruna leaves.

Flowing from her hand are luminescent gemstones, pearls and crystals representing the great teachings of antiquity that still inform and shape our culture. She shows us how the shape and use of our hands underpins civilisation and distinguishes us from the other primates.

Pablo Amaringo (1938-2009) trained as a curandero in the Amazon, healing himself and others from the age of ten, but retired in 1977 to become a full-time painter and art teacher at his Usko Ayar school in Pucullpa, Peru. The author of Ayahuasca Visions: The Religious Iconography of a Peruvian Shaman...
