Description
SIZE is deceptive in images, at this point the rive is a mile down and 900 feet wide. Marble Canyon is a section of the Colorado River canyon in northern Arizona from Lee's Ferry to the confluence with the Little Colorado River, which marks the beginning of the Grand Canyon. Lee's Ferry is a common launching point for river runners starting their journey through the Grand Canyon. Marble Canyon is also well-known for the Navajo Bridge, where US Highway 89A crosses the Colorado River. Marble Canyon marks the western boundary of the Navajo Nation. In 1975, the former Marble Canyon National Monument, which followed the Colorado River northeast from the Grand Canyon to Lee's Ferry, was made part of Grand Canyon National Park.

Have you ever stood in the Middle of the Colorado River? This is Panorama, created from six images. The visual is deceiving to the eye, as the river is over 1000 feet down. The canyon at this point is over 900 feet wide. What you see along the sides are the tops of the canyon which rises almost a Mile above this point. This is the Navajo Bridge crossing of the Colorado River, the section which flows through Marble Canyon, under the route from the South Rim to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the river flows through the Vermillion National Park.

I know this place. Thank you for your commentary on this beautiful shot. I would not have thought that it was 1000 feet down to the river in Marble Canyon at Navajo Bridge.

TIP: In the past, most panoramic images were shot horizontally. So they appear squat and wide. By shooting vertically, you get an image which appears more natural... Forget how wide this can be made on a canvas, but its about the biggest one yet. It would be even larger, but it was limited by the 25 mg limit in FAA. The original file was 220 mg, that I had to reduce.
