My family made a gingerbread house this Christmas; we baked the gingerbread from scratch, in molds, and let my two little granddaughters decorate it as they saw fit. I piped the frosting on with a frosting press that I have. (PS the house was eaten on Christmas Eve and was much tastier than the "kit" pieces have been in the past. By Christmas morning there was nothing left but crumbs.)

Always a fun holiday tradition to do with the kids in the family. Quite a nice decorating job too. Sure wish I had a piece of that right now. I love gingerbread and haven't had any in years. Happy New Year to your and your family, Kathryn.

Thanks, Helen! If you have a recipe for gingerbread, you can make gingerbread men or other cookies with cookie cutters and decorate or frost them; you don't have to make the whole house.
