PD: Photograph of General George Smith Patton Jr. One of the major battlefield generals of world war two. Opinionated and straight talking, he inspired his men, and infuriated many, including those who out-ranked him. The enemy high ranking officers who fought him, all said he was the best opponent they ever faced, and the mention of his name struck terror in their men. He died in 1945 in an automobile accident near Heidelberg, Germany, and is buried in the American cemetery in Luxembourg.
