Description
When people think of a beautiful day, it usually leans towards a warm, sunny one with blue skies and calm winds. I beg to differ - for me, it's the few moments immediately following the departure of the rains. Once the showers have moved off and the sun breaks out, we just might treated to the glorious display of a rainbow, the first concrete evidence that things are improving.
Rainbows are usually associated with something positive. They have been described as beautiful spectacles, associated with lore of some pot of gold at the end of the arch, or taken as a lucky sign. In all my life, I have yet to hear of any description of a rainbow that is put negatively. I don't see people cringe when they see one, nor do they complain, nor do they run for the hills.
... unless they're trying to find that pot of gold. *wink*
The skies definitely got friendly on this occasion. A Boeing 777 from Chicago is about to landing on Rwy 19L at San Francisco. Behind it was what I believe was the most stunning rainbow I've ever laid a gaze towards. The storm clouds that have moved off in the distance were actually helping the brilliance by providing sharp contrast. All I could think when I was clicking this shutter was how happy the scene looked. The skies were definitely looking a whole lot more friendly.
