Description
The sun goes down on the Nile and the boats bring goods from somewhere up the river. These boats are conducting business, but I see them as a symbol of freedom as the glide on the water. In this painting, I reduced the patterns of sails, hulls and river banks nearly completely to chromatic and textural abstraction.

This is the kind of abstract painting that I can deeply resonate with. I resonate so much with Egypt anyway and its' fascinating ancient history. The details of this scene are deliberately obscured but the "feeling" and colors and mood remain as a tangible presence.
