As the trees fall bare and trails begin to obscure with fallen leaves, a seasonal autumn forest reveals itself. Foliage in deep red, rust and orange peppers the last of summer's grass. Fall Colors is a collage and acrylic painting offered by Shadia Derbyshire. the piece was created with a soft acrylic underpainting, that was then collaged with hand torn, and painted, stamped, stenciled or otherwise embellished papers. The piece is finish is a semi gloss top coat with UV protection. the edges are painted with paper wrapping from the face - so no framing is needed.

My most recent work draws more inspiration from color and texture than distinct subject matters, and my objective remains to imbue my canvasses with a sense of emotion. Through the intricate texture and vibrant color in my pieces, I aim to create a visceral response in the viewer; my hope is that the viewer may connect with them emotionally rather than through conscious, deliberate effort. In this way, viewers create their own interpretations through this initial connection, and the narrative of the piece becomes secondary. I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan.
