Description
These wonderful abstracts are called refractography. It's daylight shining through inverted oil on glass. The oild forms patterns on the glass as it drips off. They are backlit oil drips on a rotating, glass top bowl. It's called a Drip Chamber. Note. All of the work for these images was done through the lens and Adobe Camera Raw.

very cool. Did you take your own refractograph?
Scott Campbell replied:
Hi Tim. Sort of. This is actually sunlight refracting through the bottom of a flat piece of glass with clear oil dripping off it. Then I used the Adobe RAW converter's gradient tool to "apply gels". Since creating these I have created actual lens free refractographs. It's very cool stuff.
