The New Forest is a large tract of crown land and today one of the largest countryside areas areas of pasture land, heathland and forest in Southern England, it covers southwest Hampshire and southeast Wiltshire. There are common rights in various areas where ponies, horses, cows and even some pigs and donkeys roam free to graze and maintain the heathland. The New Forest boasts many varieties of tree, including beech which is a native species. 1000 years ago William The Conqueror visited the New Forest, and today the ancient landscape remains relatively unchanged, the area is classed as ancient woodland, many of the trees have stood throughout the ages.<...
