Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Artist Janet Echelman and Aaron Koblin, creative director at Googles creative lab, have collaborated to create Unnumbered Sparks a monumental interactive sculpture in the sky, billowing silently overhead visitors to downtown Vancouver, Canada. The ethereal net spanning 745 ft between buildings shimmers with a vibrantly colored glow, punctuating the urban landscape as it floats above ground. Visitors with smartphones and tablets are able to paint vivid beams of light across the sculpture at a massive scale; small movements made on phones become nearly hundred foot long trails on its surface. The team explains the lighting on the sculpture is actually a single full screen Google Chrome window over 10 million pixels in size. The sculpture premiered at the TED Conferences 30th anniversary.

Now, many years later, it still excites me to venture out and try to find what the world is all about in my own way through this wonderful medium. To me, photography is about capturing the hidden meaning, the emotion, and the invisible in a given moment in time. It transcends mere composition and lighting. When it's done well, we sit up and take notice, we pause over an image, and if everything is perfect, we might even feel that slight tingling up the spine. While I try...
