Description
This is one of nine encaustic abstracts which were all painted at the same time, so all the colors compliment the other paintings. Each piece was hand painted on a hardwood cradleboard, which was then installed in a black wood floating frame so that several can be hung together in a group, which will have an impact on the viewer. At this time, all originals are available in the frames.(see below) Markings and texture were added to create a piece that is not only visually exciting, but will give a tactile experience when touched. If a buyer wants all the pieces, please contact me. Each piece is on 6 x 6 board, and with frame is 7.5 x 7.5.
Encaustic comes from the Greek word "enkaustikos" which means "to burn (in)" and is an ancient form of art. Each melted wax layer is mixed with resin for strength and body. An encaustic art piece is made up of many layers and uses clear wax or natural wax (which has a warm yellow tint) and wax paint which also includes resin. Special brushes are needed. The surface of the finished piece is either smooth or textured.
