Description
SPRING
The sun, at last is beginning
to warm the daytime air.
Frost leaves the ground
and roots waken from deep sleep,
quickening with more daylight.
Sap rises, buds swell
and leaf and petal thrust out of the ground.
The whole process of sprouting and growth,
flowering and fruiting, ripeness and renewal,
is under way again,
the purpose of life, the reason for being.
The earth rouses.
The great rhythm throbs
with the pulse of recreation
after the long deep sleep.
