Catherine Garneau was drawn to nature, art and animals from a very early age. As a child, her weekends were spent studying and meticulously drawing animal anatomy from the taxidermy collection at the Carnegie Natural History Museum while academic classes were always focused on science and art. She was chosen to depict a large mural of African Animals on the wall of her high school and, with a 4.0 average, received a partial scholarship to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
