Description
The Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca) is native and breeds in sub-Saharan Africa but has also migrated to Europe. It is a vagrant in the Middle East and Israel. Egyptian Geese are found on lakes, ponds, and riverbanks. The Egyptian Goose measures about 28 inches in length. It is a brown goose with a chestnut eye patch, a narrow chestnut collar on the neck, and bright orange eyes; its bill, legs and feet are conspicuously pink. It feeds on grasses, seeds, leaves, and occasionally on worms and insects. Egyptian Geese pair for life.
This Egyptian Goose and four of its goslings in the shallow water of a pond were photographed at the Ramat Gan National Park, in Israel, on 2-9-2019. I used a Nikon D850 camera body and a Nikkor 500mm f/4.0E FL ED VR2 telephoto lens to capture this image. Settings: 1/1600 sec, f/11, ISO 1600.
I am honored that my photograph was featured in the Fine Art America groups:
