This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

Artist's Description
Early Ordnance Survey stations. Diagrams of some of the triangulations stations (including Greenwich Royal Observatory and Dover Castle) used in the 1784-1796 surveys of England and Wales. The stations (usually church towers or castles) formed connected triangles (see C009/5094), and measuring the angles between them allowed accurate maps to be constructed. This work was first published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, then later in volume one of a 1799 report by Mudge and Dalby for the government's Board of Ordnance. This would eventually form the basis of the UK national mapping agency, the Ordnance Survey.
