Description
It probably isn't a dungeon door but I was letting my imagination run wild! And you know I had to try the lock to see if I could peek inside! This fascinating door is located at the Gateway National Recreation Area where the Sandy Hook Lighthouse is also located. The area was once a military proving ground (Sandy Hook Proving Ground), a military facility along the Atlantic coast of New Jersey established by the Secretary of War on August 7, 1874, to serve as the United States Army's first proving ground for the testing of ordnance and materiel. The facility was operated in conjunction with the adjoining Fort Hancock. The Sandy Hook Proving Ground is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark. Maybe this was a storage area, maybe it was an undergound bunker. There was no indication as to what it was, you can imagine for yourself.
