Description
Drug addiction. Drug addict self-injecting heroin. This is a narcotic drug which is also used for medical purposes as a strong painkiller. Heroin is a white brownish powder that can be smoked, sniffed or dissolved in water and injected. It produces sensations of warmth, calmness and drowsiness. Long-term use induces the need for greater amounts of the drug in order to have the same effect. Sudden withdrawal of the drug produces symptoms such as shivering, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, vomiting, sleeplessness and restlessness. Infections are commonly spread by sharing needles.
