The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

This gunship crashed while landing at an Air Base I was stationed at in the delta in Vietnam in 1970. I was serving there in the Air Force but was fortunate not to be aboard this guy when it decided to slide off the runway!
