Infrared photograph of the graveyard infront of Acton Burnell castle in Shropshire, England.
The castle has the reputation of being haunted by several ghosts including a girl dressed in white lace. Built in 1283 and finished in 1286, it was occupied by various families until 1672 when it was abandoned and fell into ruin.
The castle has been investigated by paranormal investigators and a group of students who took photographs which seem to show glowing orbs floating in the building.
In February 2004 Stuart Edmonds and two other people went to film some night time location shots at Acton Burnell Castle for a friend's university documentary project.
Stuart admitted to being sceptical about the paranormal and spent 15 minutes in one of the covered rooms in pitch darkness to see if there were any signs of ghostly activity.
He then started to take still shots. It was then that he heard scraping on the walls in front of him so he took another shot which...

There is something haunting and mysterious about many of the historic locations I visit in England and I try to express this in my infrared photographs. Travelling by motorcycle, most are visited during winter time when trees are bare and lifeless and shadows are long and foreboding. I established my full time event photography business in 2002 which I thoroughly enjoy. However my overwhelming passion is for black and white photography. I love how the unreality of black and white can combine with the ethereal glow of infra red to create an eerie and surreal feel in a photograph. Matt, great black and white photo done in infrared. Great choice to do such a subject as this in black and white. Like the light glistening on Jesus hanging from the cross, and the cross to the right with its eerie feeling sitting in darkness. Great angle that you took this photo at and a great result.
