"Don't Leave Me" is an emotional painting/photograph by artist Mary Ely. The original painting does not have the words "don't leave me" on it. Digitally enhancing acrylic paintings is a technique that Mary Ely uses to create and enjoys dabbling in.
Mary looked around a studio full of artists and viewed many of them painting from photographs they were looking at. A thought occurred to her; She decided instead of starting a painting from a photograph, she would start with a painting and turn it into a photograph. The imagery for the paintings came completely from within Mary Ely's imagination and emotions. She would paint a picture, photograph the painting, digitally enhance it, then frame the resulting photograph which started out as a painting. The painting was not her desired final product, the photograph was the desired end. The painting simply served as a creative tool, a part of her process for a final piece. She continues with this technique today and has other multiple images resulting from the technique.
Sometimes Mary Ely will sell the original painting, but many times she paints over the image in order to create another photograph from a new painting.
