This painting has been donated to the Empire Ranch Foundation.
FAA photographer Berta Keeney recently posted a photograph of the Arizona Desert during the last light of day. I mentioned that I would like to do a painting based on her work and she gave me a thumb's up, so here it is.
I added some distant mountains, altered the clouds and horizon a bit, but I tried to maintain the FEEL of it and the wonderful BLUES. Thanks Berta! Sometimes I feel a simple sunset or dusk paintings, with silhouettes can be so moody and engaging!

Jerry, you really nailed the mood of this one! I actually can feel myself standing there, putting my camera away and trying to pull the Cholla out of the little backpack it goes into, after photographing the sunset, and hearing the crickets starting to chirp, as has happened many times.
