Description
f you've been to the Bozeman Montana area to fly fish, no doubt you've heard of Depuy's Spring Creek. My goal was to capture the grandeur and beauty of the Absaroka and Gallatin mountains, the giant cottonwoods in full fall color, and of course, the stream, reflecting the blue sky and mountains. As I painted this, I thought of the time my Dad and I were able to fish there. He was in his element and loved the challenging dry fly fishing on 13' 7x leaders. He passed away a few years ago making it all the more meaningful. I hope this painting just makes you say, Wow, and conjures up that desire to go wet a line somewhere beautiful like Paradise Valley on the Yellowstone and Depuy's. This painting is based on a photograph by Montana's famous photographer, Dusan Smetana.
Indiana oil painter Steve Haigh's inspiration and passion for painting comes from his lifelong experiences in the outdoors, his family, and his faith.
