Description
"Dairy Cows at Sunset"
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... A couple of shy girls
come over to the fence
to say "Hello".
The sun was setting behind them
in beautiful sun rays
behind the big cumulus clouds
but the 'ladies' were unaware
of the spectacular beauty of the evening...
The dairy farm barns
are behind and below
the hill in a pretty valley
of the western North Carolina
Smoky Mountains.
The farm is over 100 years old
and is owned by the Shields family
who was one of the first families
to development Cades Cove
near Townsend, Tennessee.
They moved here to the outskirts
of Murphy, North Carolina
when the settlers were moved out
of Cades Cove.
They started this family-run dairy farm
where they grow the crops,
corn and hay, needed to feed their livestock
and breed the cows,
keeping the girls and selling the boys...

Hi Debra and Dave...I like your image. A lovely shot under difficult lighting. I like your composition here with the cows off to the right. Nicely done as always...Cheers Bob f/v
