This was one of a litter of six little foxes I was fortunate to spend a couple hours with all by myself. I crawled on my belly near the den. I inched forward as slowly and quietly as I could. The sun was getting low in the sky just as they began to cautiously approach me.

The red fox has orangish-red fur on its back, sides and head. It has white fur under its neck and on its chest. It has a long bushy tail tipped in white, pointed black ears and black legs and feet.
The red fox eats a wide variety of foods. Their diet includes fruits, berries and grasses. It also eats birds and small mammals like squirrels, rabbits and mice. Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio.
