Cudderly Duck - Photography by Karol Livote
This is a female Buffleduck. It is a small brownish, grey duck with a large round head. It has a distinctive single white patch on the cheek. In the New England area this breed of duck is found in the winter along the coast. This duck is also found inland in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. I like to call them "Winter Ducks". There are several breeds in my area that I will only see during the winter. This is one of them.
