Description
The Coventry Orne covered bridge is a tough bridge to find. and even the Gazetteer has it mismarked, so it takes real perseverance. The Orne Covered Bridge, also known as the Black River Bridge, is a replica of a historic bridge on Back Coventry Road in Irasburg, Vermont. Built in 2000, it is a replacement for a 19th-century bridge which stood on the site until it was destroyed by arson in 1997. The historic bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The bridge is named after the Orne family, who owned the land on which it was built.
