Description
Cocoa tree pathogen research. US mycologist extracting a sample of living plant tissue from a wild cocoa (cacao) tree in Peru. Fungi in the sample will be studied for potential use as biological control agents against certain pathogens that infect this tree. The beans obtained from the pod of the cocoa plant (Theobroma cacao) are used in powdered form to make chocolate.
