Description
The use of psychological warfare is nothing new, but their ability to attack both physically and on the neuro-frequencies,
simultaneously, is what makes these individuals a unique threat. Used together, one is always there to distract focus from the other. Victory here, is slippery.
A lifetime of preparation endows the members of this trust with the tools necessary to get those elusive wins. These rewards are hard-won and not without penalties. There are wounds to be tended, but the injuries of the mind often escape detection because of where the damage lies. If the mechanism for decision-making is compromised, it cannot be relied upon.
Strict rules and training must make up for this shortfall. This is the reasoning behind the 'Clean Thoughts' protocol -
a comprehensive wipe and reset to eliminate the potential for this error.
Though rare, some members have still been unwilling to make this sacrifice and elect to forego this step. Usually this is a result of more catastrophic damage suffered in battle. A breakdown in the training can't be ruled out, but is considered unlikely due to the intense, lifelong nature of the program and the generous emphasis placed on this contingency. Regardless of the cause, failure to complete this procedure results in the compulsory designation as 'enemy of the state', to be terminated on sight.
Such extensive safeguards are necessary because of the risks involved at this level of combat. The neuro attacks are capable of embedding viral commands known to propagate beyond the damaged regions and take command of the subject. In such cases, the affected operative has been compelled to repair and rebuild the foe they've just vanquished, only to find their own hasty and savage end. Worse, this viral damage can lie dormant, turning the officer into a ticking time-bomb amongst the order and citizenry.
The 'Clean Thoughts' protocol should, under no circumstances, be bypassed.
