Description
The Sanctuary of the Virgen de Chaguaya is in the small village of Chaguaya about 60km south of Tarija in southern Bolivia. The Virgen de Chaguaya is one of the most important saints of southern Bolivia and many pilgrims (both from Bolivia and nearby northern Argentina) visit the church from mid August to mid September. There has been a church on the site since at least the 18th century though the current large building and surrounding plaza date from the 1980s.
