Description
Calahonda is a part of the autonomous local authority Carchuna-Calahonda, in the town of Motril, Granada province, autonomous community of Andalusia Spanish town. It is located in the central part of the region of the Costa Granada. Near this town are the nuclei of La Perla, Carchuna, La Chucha and Castell de Ferro.
Located Sacratif Calahonda is the southernmost town of the province of Granada.
Calahonda is formed around its port. The main tracks that have reached today are nineteenth century. It was also the end of this century, in 1872, when the Catholics of Calahonda scroll to Gualchos stopped for Mass at the completion of building the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

However, it also has previous monuments. The Zambullón watchtower sits atop a vertical cliff quite near the road and towards Castell de Ferro, the last resort of Calahonda. The building dates from the sixteenth century and its mission was to protect the mouth of the harbor from pirates. It also served to monitor the beach of La Rijana, crossing its fire with the Llano de Carchuna to west and Fort Castell to the east. It is made of limestone masonry and lime mortar. Many projects were not conclusive for the history of Calahonda, such as building a new arsenal in the port or binding by a railroad town with the city of Granada for freight traffic.
The Whiskers 1 cave located inland, near the cemetery, is an element that previously thought of Arab origin, although it should be dated to the time of the French Revolution. Used for Motril known as "Whiskers" to hide from the invading troops after their acts of sabotage against the French.
