Es una de las localidades que forman parte del Valle Estrechu� o �Estrechoo, tambien �Valdeaniezo�, formado por el rio Aniezo en la vertiente oeste de Pena Sagra y perteneciente al partido judicial de San Vicente de la Barquera.

El municipio al que pertenece est� situado en la zona Suroeste de la regi�n y limita con los municipios de Potes, Castro Cillorigo, Lamas�n, Rionansa, Polaciones, Pesaguero y Vega de Liebana. Es por ello que nos encontramos en una zona de gran belleza paisaj�stica con numerosas alternativas de ocio, tanto en el propio pueblo como en las zonas colindantes.
