This 'ink on photocopy' work is a painterly version of a photograph taken by myself of Spanish matador Antonio Barrera performing a pass with capote on a El Pilar fighting bull during the fifth 'corrida' of the Aste Nagusia festivities, 23 August 2006, at the Vista Alegre bullring in Bilbao, northern Spain.
About Rafa Rivas
Born in Barakaldo, Spain, in 1970. I graduated in Fine Arts at the Basque Country University. My photo-journalist career started in 1988 and I have worked for several Spanish and international journals and news agencies. Since 2000 to 2014 I worked as photographer for the international news agency Agence France Presse - AFP where currently I am a staff photo-editor.
