Description
Buddha Shakyamuni lived and attained enlightenment in India 2500 years ago. In this thangka, his left hand is in the position of meditative equipoise and his right hand touches the ground symbolizing his victory over interferences. He is surrounded by representations of the six perfections which are to be cultivated on the path to enlightenment — Generosity, Patience, Enthusiastic Effort, Ethical Discipline, Concentration, and Wisdom — and supported on a lion throne of fearlessness.

Amazing work - among other amazing pieces I see that you have done. I would love to feature your work in the group "Buddhism," which I just started. Please join and offer some images and any thoughts you may have on the subject.

Thank you all for your comments. When I look at this piece, it's almost as if it was created by someone else. Thirteen years have passed since I made it and I can no longer imagine stitching each of those little figures, one by one. It was a great gift from my teachers that I was able to do it.
