When I saw Pikes Peak for the very first time I felt a sense of something POWERFUL come over me. I was awestruck by the massive size of this mountain.
Bijan Pirnia replied:
Colorado has been blessed with 54 mountains higher than 14000 feet we call fourteeners. Pikes Peak has the highest elevation gain from the base to the summit : about 8000 feet. It is such a Prominent landmark. You can see it from about 75 miles away.
