Description
Beyond The Sea

The sky was a canopy of glistening shimmering stars that night.
The young huntsman was gathering up wood for his fire,
when he came upon a most surprising magical sight.
It was discreetly hidden in the shadows of the wooded briar.
It was nothing like any thing in his life had he ever seen.
Its eerie glow like that of a wolf moon beaconed him near.
What witchery, what fairy’s potion could draw him to this scene?
Should he stay or should he concede to his wavering fear?
His decision came within a whisper, “Do not vacillate, come see!”
Silently he stalked, closing in as he would his prey.
There before him, a golden bubble lay, in its wooded debris.
A large sphere, filled with the ocean and creatures at play.
He was the hidden voyageur, traveling a different time, and place,
where all colors of angels swam in their golden fin finery.
He saw her there, her swirling red mane framing a bewitching grace.
A beauty more fetching thought he, than any princess of royalty.
She was his muse, no song could he sing to capture her heart.
This vision who took from him his breath, part woman and part fish.
The two of them, living in separate worlds, a tragedy from the start.
If he could, he would swim through the crystal walls, if granted his last wish.
For her he was just a glance, a fragrance of something passing by.
She touched her breast, “Whats this that comes to me?”
She did not hear his words of brevity, as he parted with his last good-bye.
She only knew, the day had dawned in a place beyond the sea.
