A very strong and rare "red" aurora, which occurred in Sept. 2023, is shown above the lake waters of Kootenay Lake in southeastern British Columbia. This incredible event featured very visible bands of reddish purple light that seemingly reached into the heavens. An added bonus, but not shown in this image, was the appearance of an even rarer parallel "Steve", which although hard to believe, stole the show.
