All though the puppets have been carefully painted in a stationary position it is almost impossible to picture these two puppets as something other than dancers born to twirl and pirouette. Also, the figures represented in this oil on canvas painting are not mere dolls to be put on display. Puppets are designed to go hand in hand with performance and stagecraft. Puppets are made to be manipulated and to be used as tools of artistic expression. Nonetheless, even in a restful pose there is no denying the purpose and beauty of this ballerina and her eternal partner.
