This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
I grew up as a young teen here in Darien, CT. I skated at the age of 13 in this pond in winter as a kid. I was a transplant from Staten Island New York. As the years progressed and as I have aged, I still see the kid who fell on the ice, but yet I see a whole new look as an adult. It is a most beautiful place!

Diana, I grew-up in Darien, Connecticut and graduated with the class of 1967 and still live here. I just wanted you to know that I think your still-life photography is absolutely beautiful. I must admit that at first I couldn't figure-out if they were paintings or photos because the palette of colors are so amazing. Also, quite a number of your photos remind me of when I lived in Southampton, Long Island and attended Long Island University for my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in English & Writing. By the way, do you sell your photos and if so, I might be interested in purchasing a number of them. My twin brother, Rand, was the first Captain of the Darien High School Gymnastic Team in 1967, was undefeated and voted the senior with best physic. As you can imagine, considering he had Polio when he was only 5-years old. was quite an accomplishment. Also, my younger brother, Jeff, was Captain two years later and Connecticut's All State Gymnastic Champion. I only tell you this because I thought you might remember them, and possibly me but suspect that you graduated in a much later DHS Class. Anyway, I was a lifeguard and beach manager at Weed and Pear Tree Point Beach during my high school and undergraduate years. I also sailed on Long Island Sound and out to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Woods Hole on my Uncle Charlie's 40 foot sailboat. By the way, if you care to share, I would be interested in knowing what DHS Class you graduated from. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful art work. Alan King, MFA, MA (Writer in Residence). P.S. I would have written this in paragraph form but for some reason, it wouldn't allow me to do this.

My great grandmother, Margarite ("Ronnie") Tilley, generously sold her estate to the Town of Darien in 1971 upon her passing. My great grandfather, whom I never met, was a world renowned ornithologist, bird collector, and naturalist. Your beautiful painting features the stone boathouse my dad (Justus Hoyt) and uncle (Stephen Hoyt - yes, of the New Cannan Hoyts) used where they learned to sail, and the pond they grew up on, learning to play hockey. My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary 3 years ago with a family picnic at the park, just a few blocks from the Sugar Bowl, where they had their first date. We're all scattered near and far, yet always try to visit the park whenever in the region. I would love to buy one of your prints for my parents - and myself. Please e-mail me at your convenience: geoffhoyt@sbcglobal.net. Thank you for such a beautifully recreated scene and memory.
