Description
The Australian Wood Duck is a goose-like dabbling duck which prefers shallow water and lives in a range of habitats from grasslands to open woodlands and wetlands across a wide area of Australia. Agricultural development has benefited this duck which may be seen in farm dams, rice fields and parks. Staying together in monogamous pairs, they nest in tree hollows above or near water. It is also called the Maned Duck or Maned Goose.
