At left, a warrior with a bow and arrows in a horse-drawn chariot is attacking foot solders and archers (right), with one pierced by arrows (bottom). Across top are winged symbols, possibly representing deities. The Assyrian Empire reached its height in around 705-612 BC. This woodcut dates from 1880.
