Brain in dream-like room. Illustration of a human brain tightly enclosed in a dream-like room, as a depiction of mental states of depression, schizo- phrenia or agoraphobia. Depression results in feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a sense of reduced emotional well-being. Depressed people may become withdrawn, spend their time indoors, & lose concentration & interest in social activities. Schizophrenia, or split personality, may be represented here as delusional and illogical thinking. Perceptions of the outside world and of reality may be mistaken, & depression may result. The image may also represent agoraphobia, a morbid fear of public places or open spaces.
