Description
An angel statue that serves as a holy water font in the beautiful Saint Mary of the Angels Catholic church in Chicago, Illinois, stands at the back and to the side of the center aisle and seems to welcome visitors. The receding repeating patterns and lines of the pews lead the eye to the beautiful altar area and dome at the front.
This image is also impressive in black and white; you can see that version in my Black and White or Chicago gallery.

Fascinating point of view with the perspective point off center. Well executed both in concept and post-processing. L&F

Hello Nikolyn; I commend you on this magnificent image. Beautifully composed, well balanced with the placement of the angel holding the holy water and the leading lines of the pews towards the altar with the repeating patterns, great depth, lots of details, well lit (I know how difficult it may be in most cases to photograph inside a church). Wow; very well done.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Hany. This is a most beautiful church but yes, you are right and it is not brightly lit. In fact, the front was quite nice, but the angel was over-bright because a door was open or something (can't remember) and the pews were very dark. It was a challenge to balance the scene in post-processing; I'm glad you feel I've succeeded.
