The dark portraiture of figurines and the Afrocentric features are celebrated in this painting. The field in the background depicts cattle and sparse life with an incongruent depiction of the potential for food but the reality of hunger. The destitution and condition of hungry people in a shack with eyes full of envy and jealous as well as submission and rights. Fairness and wanting with a taste of hierarchical structure inundate the emotional theme of this painting.
